♥ ♥ ♥ A SINCERE THANK YOU! WE RAISED $750.00 ♥ ♥ ♥
Wolf Den Strength celebrated it’s two year anniversary this weekend supporting a worthy cause. We spent it walking with a couple thousand local Gainesville residents walking to fund Alzheimer’s research during the “2016 Walk to End Alzheimer’s”.
Alzheimer’s is a devastating disease affecting more than 5.4 million Americans of all ages. One in nine people, age 65 and older has Alzheimer’s. Approximately 200,000 of the 5.4 million are under the age of 65. By 2050, barring some degree of medical breakthroughs, Alzheimer’s prevalence may grow as high as 16 million as the baby boomers reach geriatric age, according the U.S. Census and Alzheimer’s Association. This is staggering.
Most of you know, or know of someone, who has suffered or is suffering with Alzheimer’s disease. In Florida alone, there have been 510,000 documented cases. That is more than twice the population of Alachua County.
So leading up to our anniversary, we made a conscious choice to participate and raise money for Alzheimer’s. Our Wolf Den Member Dimitrios Papadopoulos led the team effort and together we were able to raise a combined $750.00.
We are grateful to Dimitrios and everyone who donated and participated in the Walk this past Saturday morning. It’s important for us to give where we can to worthy causes to help our communities. We look forward to future opportunities and contributions toward worthy causes.
Thank you from all of us!
